In the world of housekeeping, one of the most popular devices which well-off households may invest in would most definitely have to be vacuum cleaners. This is because they help to suck off all of the necessary dirt, pet dander, and other small particles that would either be too tedious to exact through other means, or would simply not be removed by other conventional cleaning methods. The existence of the vacuum cleaner robot simply shows how much these kinds of cleaners are greatly valued in a lot of households, whether the upper or the middle class. But just how did these came to being? Let’s find out.
History
While vacuum cleaners have been around for quite some time already, the robot type has not surfaced until 1996, with Electrolux serving as a pioneer manufacturer of this particular kind of robotic cleaner. It was known as the Trilobite vacuum, and was even featured on one of the most popular science programs of the BBC, Tomorrow’s World.
After half a decade, Dyson, another British Company made the DC06 robot vacuum, but was never made commercially available due to the high price. A year after, iRobot released the Roomba which managed to sell 50,000 units across the United States. Variations have been around since then, with different companies launching different versions and under different brands.
Modern-Day
Indeed, there have been several features which were added to these vacuum cleaners we all used to know, with a lot of modern versions combining multiple cleaners such as brushes in them, with a lot of these being equipped with extra powerful suction forces, remote controls, LED technology, motion sensors, laser vision, ultrasound vision for better navigation and the like, in order for the function of these materials to be made more optimal.
